The SST brought back the first set of option models about 6 pm this evening.  As expected, the options didn't model out on the first try.  The biggest problem is related to some San Fransisco and Monterey commercial seasons that have high impacts on Klamath River Fall Chinook.  The impacts reduced the 2010 escapement to 27,800 in one of the options, below the 40,700 conservation objective level.  We will have to pare down the Sac. Fall Chinook impacts as well.  Those came in at 145,940, option 1(rec.) and 126,520, option 2 (rec.).  Those will need to be adjusted to reach escapements of 180,000 and 150,000 respectively.  A lot of the Sac. impacts will probably be recovered from the adjustments to the above commercial seasons, but we expect that there will be some adjustments necessary to other commercial and sport zone's seasons to achieve the level of escapements required.

We'll resubmit adjusted options on Weds. am and will get look at the resulting models on Weds. afternoon.

After the salmon session we all, including Sandcrab, Jimmy Y and Colly M, attended the CA DFG public meeting to develop the rock fish regulations for 2011 and 2012 seasons.  This was a scoping session and nothing will be finalized until June 2010, so there is no use posting details now as they are subject to change over the next several months.  We should get a better idea of the major changes after the April PFMC meeting in Portland.
